Mary, also known as St. Mary the Virgin, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Mary, Mary Mother of God or the Virgin Mary is believed by many to be the greatest of all Christian saints

The Blessed Virgin Mary was born to St. Joachim and St. Anne. She was dedicated to the church by her parents at a young age. She was very pious and wanted to dedicate her life to god and prayed for it. When the elders and parents wanted to get her married she was very sad ,but agreed to it. She continued to pray to God for her life to be dedicated to God. The temple priests invited all the eligible men in David's lineage for Mary's hand. They offered each men a Lilly stem and asked them pray through the ceremony and whichever stem blooms the flowers, will be selected as the groom for Mary. Joseph's Lilly stem blossomed with white flowers and he was selected.

Mary got betrothed to Joseph.

Archangel Gabriel appears to Mary in a vision and announces that she'll be the mother of Jesus. Mary surrender herself completely to God's plan. She raised Jesus as a loving mother and stood by his side till death. In the wedding at Canaan , she sees the situation and asks Jesus to help. This is one of the key reason, even today lot of devotees pray to Mary as she can ask Jesus to help. When Jesus went through Calvary and finally was laying in Mary's arm as dead, she went through such a pain. But accepted everything as God's plan. God rewarded by raising her to heaven in body and soul.

The main events of her life are celebrated as liturgical feasts of the Catholic Church. Catholic church celebrates 'Feast of Immaculate Conception' on Dec 8th. And Mother Mary's birthday is celebrated as Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on September 8th.And her assumption to heaven is celebrated as Feast of Assumption on August 15th.
